For week one, I posted a few words about feeling fortunate to have been selected for this “grand adventure” to heart heath and signed up for the on-line BetterU program and set a few modest goals: to increase my exercise from 3 times a week to 5 times a week–and just adding 15 minutes to my already steady 30 minute walks, and to decrease my weight by a modest 5% by the end of the 12 week program and the last, may be the hardest for me, that’s to have a more regular eating schedule–But, I’ll keep trying to reach those goals.
For week two–last week, I went to the Sadie Hawkins event at Provena St. Joseph Hospital and the energy from the speakers was contagious. There, I heard from women and men who are devoting their professional lives to reduce the incidence of heat disease and I applaud their devotion and am grateful for the extra nudge I need to get the job done.
I came away with the deep understanding that this will be a hard but life saving effort, but there are lots of good people willing to help.
