Aerobic exercise is the key to maintaining heart health and losing weight

Aerobic exercise utilizes the large muscle groups of the body- arms and legs- and elevates heart rate for a period of time. This helps to strengthen the heart muscle and enable the heart to better provide oxygen to the tissues of your body.  Examples are biking, walking, jogging and swimming.

It is best to focus on the DURATION of exercise as opposed to the INTENSITY. It is best to exercise at lower workloads or speeds which enables one to exercise for longer periods of time.

The American Heart Association recommends 30-60 minutes a day /4-6 days a week.
