March is National Nutrition Month!

Hi Ladies!

I’m Mary Carol MacDonald, a Registered Dietitian at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital.  I’ve been reading your blogs and am inspired and motivated myself by your energy and determination to succeed!  I’ll be meeting with you all on April 18, but wanted to share some highlights of National Nutrition month with you today!

March is National Nutrition Month, an entire month dedicated to promoting healthful eating!  This year’s theme, “Eat Right with Color”, reminds us to include a colorful variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and dairy products on your plates every day. A variey of colorful foods (blue/purple, green, white, yellow/orange and red) provide a wide range of  vitamins, minerals, fiber and phytochemicals your body uses to stay healthy and energetic, help maintain healthy weight, protect against the effects of aging, and reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease.  They’re the magic pill we’ve all been loking for!
